Organisation Information

• Because of the wide spread of  Explorers in Cumbria some Units are joined to Groups and others exist within the District. See the list of terms below.
• Contact the Assistant District Commissioner for Explorer Scouts to find out about Explorers in your town or area.[Contacts]
• Sometimes local Units take part in activities organised by the other units within Cumbria.
  • District Units : One Unit Covers the whole Scout District
  • Local Units : This is associated with more than one Scout Group but not all Groups in a District
  • Group Units : A unit is associated with a particular Group, this would coexist with other Group or Local Units.
  • Specialist Units: This is an organisational grouping allowing those interested in say a service crew or canoeing or walking to 'club' together.
  • Young Leader's Unit : This is an organisational group allowing those Explorers interested in helping with other sections to meet and train together.
  • Short-term Unit : This is an organisational unit put together for a special event, an expedition a Gang-Show stage crew or the like.
