Great Tower Scout campsite is situated in 100 Ha of rocky woodland on the East shore of lake Windermere. Many sites are available from small isolated clearings to compact open areas. On site facilities include toilets with hot and cold water, Standpipes round the site, drying machines, and a well stocked providore.
Windermere is England's largest lake located in the South of the Lake District. It measures 17Km long and 1.6Km wide. If you're quiet you can see deer, red squirrels, badgers and many varieties of birds and insects.
The Lake district has been a home to the famous, including William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. It is also the home of the famous Scafell Pike at 978m and Helvellyn at 949m lake Windermere is headed by Wansfell pike a mere 482 m !
Great Tower is ideally situated to take the best advantage of the variety the Lakes can offer from the bustle of a small Lakeland village, to the skill of water craft, from the thrill of the peaks to the calm of the fells.
